Taxes

Turn tax on, define your rates, and optionally attach tax codes to line items.

General tax settings

A single on/off switch for tax across your account, plus whether tax codes (HSN/SAC) are required, your own tax/VAT registration number, and whether prices are tax-exclusive or tax-inclusive.

Tax rules

A tax rule defines a rate for a country (and optionally a state within it) — for example a combined CGST + SGST rate for a specific Indian state, or a single flat rate applied to everywhere. You can have as many rules as you need; a line item's tax is the sum of every rule that matches the customer's address.

Tax is calculated by comparing your own registered business address to the customer's address. If the customer is in a different country than your business, no tax rule is applied — this handles domestic tax, not cross-border VAT.

Tax codes (HSN/SAC)

If your tenant has tax codes turned on, each product can carry an HSN, SAC, or HS code with its own description and tax rate, restricted to specific countries — useful where the tax rate depends on the exact category of goods or service being sold, not just the customer's location.
