Tasks & My Tasks

Your day-to-day worklist — create, schedule and track individual tasks.

What is My Tasks?

My Tasks is your personal task list — every task assigned to you or created by you, with its own schedule, duration, project/module link, and status.

Why use My Tasks?

It's the screen most people spend the most time in: a day-to-day worklist that shows what's due today, what's coming up, and what's overdue, alongside your overall completion rate.

When would I use this screen?

  • Checking what you need to work on today
  • Creating a new task for yourself or someone else
  • Marking a task complete
  • Reviewing how many hours of work you have scheduled

Before you start

You need access to ETA → My Tasks. Creating a task requires a Task Name, Assignee, Duration, Project and Module — all four are required fields.

Reading the stats

StatMeaning
Total TasksEvery task on record.
OverdueTasks past their scheduled end time that aren't complete.
TodayTasks scheduled for today.
UpcomingTasks scheduled for a future date.
Completion RatePercentage of tasks marked complete.
Total HoursTotal scheduled duration across all tasks, in hours.

How to add a new task

  1. Click Add Task

Click + Add Task at the top of My Tasks.

  2. Fill in the required fields

Task Name, Assignee, Duration, Project and Module are all required. Priority and Description are optional.

  3. Choose a Duration

Duration is picked from a fixed list of 15-minute increments rather than typed in freely — this keeps every task's time block consistent.

  4. Set a preferred start date (optional)

If you leave the start date blank, ETA automatically finds the next available time slot with enough free capacity.

  5. Save

The task is created immediately and appears in the list right away.

How auto-scheduling works

If a task has no explicit preferred start date and today is already fully booked, ETA automatically rolls it forward to the next day that has spare capacity, rather than overbooking today.

The task table

Each row shows the task's ID, Task Name, Description, and (depending on which columns you've selected via Select Columns) fields like Assignee, Project, Module, Priority, Status and Duration.

Bulk Create, Trash & Merge/Split

From the top of My Tasks you can also open Bulk Create to add several tasks at once (see Bulk Task Creation), View Trash to recover a removed task, and Merge Split Tasks to combine or split tasks that were divided up incorrectly.

Example

Task name
QA_TEST_Bulk_1
Assignee
Kashish Malik
Project / Module
EnOpSy Testing / QA_TEST_Module_Alpha
Duration
15 min
Priority
Low

Common problems

Problem
I entered a name that's just spaces and it saved anyway.
How to fix it
Task names (and project names) should have real, visible text. A name made up only of spaces will currently be accepted, but it will look blank in every list — go back and edit it with an actual name.
Problem
My task's duration options don't include what I need.
How to fix it
Duration is intentionally limited to a fixed list of 15-minute increments, so there's no free-text duration field. If you need a longer block, look further down the same dropdown list.

FAQs

Can I assign a task to someone else?
Yes — the Assignee field isn't limited to yourself; you can assign a task to any team member.
What happens if I don't set a start date?
ETA will automatically schedule it into the next available slot with enough free capacity — see How auto-scheduling works above.
Where do recurring tasks show up?
Each generated occurrence of a recurring task appears in My Tasks alongside your regular tasks — see Recurring Tasks.
