InEx Overview
What InEx is, and how its modules fit together.
What is InEx?
InEx is the multi-currency expense and financial management module inside EnOpSy, accessed under Finance → Inex in the left sidebar. It tracks income and expenses across your bank accounts and cards, classifies spending by vendor, category, and project, and rolls that activity up into financial reports, a GST-style tax ledger, and supporting workflows for bank-statement and invoice ingestion.
Why does this matter?
Once a company has more than a handful of transactions a month, spreadsheets stop being enough — you lose track of which currency an expense was really in, whether it's been taxed correctly, and whether your Profit & Loss actually matches your bank balance. InEx keeps one system of record for all of that.
When would I use this?
- Recording money in or out of any company bank account or card
- Checking how much you've spent by vendor, category, or project
- Reviewing your tax position or generating a GST-style ledger
- Producing a Balance Sheet or Profit & Loss statement
- Importing a bank statement or vendor invoice instead of entering it by hand
Before you start
You need access to the Finance → Inex section to view or manage financial records. Before recording your first transaction, it's worth setting up your Sources (bank accounts/cards), a few Vendors and Categories, and confirming your Base Currency on the Currencies page.
How the modules fit together
- Set up your reference data
Add your bank accounts/cards as Sources, your suppliers as Vendors, your spending groups as Categories, and (optionally) Projects and non-base Currencies.
- Record transactions
Use Add Income or Add Expense (or let a Bank Statement / Invoice import create a Draft for you to review) to log money in and out.
- Review and clean up
Check the Draft and Duplicate screens periodically so imported or repeated records don't slip through uncorrected.
- Read your reports
Use All Transaction for the day-to-day ledger, Tax Engine / Tax-Ledger for tax position, and Balance Sheet / Profit & Loss for the financial statements.
