Leads
The recipients your campaigns send to, and the data that fills in your template variables.
What is the Leads screen?
Leads holds the list of recipients available to Email Service. Each lead record carries the contact and personal data (such as name and email address) that a campaign sends to, and that Variables pull from to personalize a template.
Why manage leads here?
Keeping recipients in one place, rather than pasting addresses into each campaign, means the same lead list can be reused across templates and campaigns, and personalization data stays consistent.
When would I use this screen?
- Adding new recipients before running a campaign
- Checking a lead's current data before it's used in a send
- Reviewing how many leads are available for a campaign
Before you start
If your templates use Variables for personalization, make sure the leads you're about to use have data for those fields.
The Leads list
Each row is one recipient record, with fields such as name and email address available for use as personalization data in a template. Because lead records can contain real personal and contact information, this documentation intentionally doesn't reproduce example values here — treat lead data with the same care you would any other personal data.
How to add a lead
- Open Leads
Go to Email Service → Leads.
- Start a new lead
Use the add/create action on the Leads screen.
- Fill in the recipient's details
Enter the contact details you have for this recipient, along with any data your templates' variables expect.
- Save
Saved leads become available to select as recipients in a campaign.
