Variables

Reusable placeholders that personalize a template for each recipient.

What is the Variables screen?

Variables is a manager for the named placeholders you can drop into a template — things like a recipient's name or company — so the same template renders personalized content for every lead it's sent to.

Why use Variables?

Writing a separate email per recipient doesn't scale. Variables let you write one template and have EnOpSy fill in the recipient-specific parts automatically when a campaign sends, based on the matching data in Leads.

When would I use this screen?

  • Adding a new personalization field before building a template that needs it
  • Checking what variables already exist so you reuse the same one consistently
  • Confirming a variable's exact name before typing it into a template

Before you start

It helps to know what personal or lead data you have available (from Leads) before defining variables, so the names you create line up with real data.

Reading the Variables Manager

The Variables Manager lists every variable defined for use in your templates, along with a summary count of how many exist.

How to add a new variable

  1. Open Variables

Go to Email Service → Variables.

  2. Click New Variable

Use the + New Variable action at the top of the page.

  3. Name the variable

Give it a clear, consistent name — this is what you'll reference inside a template.

  4. Save

Save so it appears in the Variables list and becomes available in the Template Editor.

The Variables list

Each row represents one variable available to use across your templates.

Common problems

Problem
A recipient received the raw variable name instead of their personal data.
How to fix it
Check that the variable name typed in the template exactly matches the one defined here, and that the recipient's record in Leads has a value for it.

FAQs

Are variables shared across all projects, or specific to one?
This documentation doesn't confirm the scope of a variable — check with your account admin if you need certainty before relying on the same variable across multiple projects.
Can I delete a variable that's already used in a template?
Not confirmed in this documentation. If you remove a variable, double-check any templates that referenced it.
