Skills
A shared catalogue of skills tagged to employees, with an approval step.
What is Skills Management?
This screen holds a company-wide list of skills that can be tagged to employees. Each skill has a category, optional tags, a count of how many employees have it, and a status of either pending or approved.
Why does Skills need approval?
Letting anyone add a skill freely can lead to duplicates and messy naming (“React” vs “React.js” vs “ReactJS”). The pending/approved workflow gives someone a chance to review new skills before they become an official part of the catalogue.
When would I use this screen?
- Adding a new skill that doesn't exist in the catalogue yet
- Approving skills that team members or managers have suggested
- Checking how many employees have a particular skill
Before you start
You need access to the Skills screen under Teams to create or review skills.
How to create a new skill
- Open Skills
Go to Manpower → Teams → Skills.
- Click Create Skill
Click Create Skill at the top of the page.
- Fill in the details
Give the skill a name and category (and tags, if used), then save. It's added with a pending status.
How the approval status works
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| pending | The skill has been created but hasn't been reviewed/approved yet. |
| approved | The skill has been reviewed and is part of the official catalogue. |
Recovering a removed skill
If a skill was removed, check View Trash at the top of the Skills screen to find and restore it.
Example
A new skill like this would need to be approved before it's treated as an official entry in the catalogue.
